On August 4, 2016, Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast uploaded Part One of an entertaining and informative mini-episode featuring writer Jim Colucci, author of the book Golden Girls Forever: An Unauthorized Look Behind the Lanai. Part Two of the episode was made available a week later, on August 11. Colucci swaps interesting anecdotes with Gilbert and co-host Frank Santopadre about The Golden Girls and its stars Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Rue McClanahan, and Betty White. The show originally ran for seven seasons on the NBC network, from 1985 to 1992. Betty White is the last Girl standing.
The theme song for The Golden Girls, “Thank You For Being a Friend,” was composed and originally recorded by the late Andrew Gold, who had a Top Forty hit with it in 1978. The version heard on the TV series was recorded by Cynthia Fee.
